Tapeball is self-expression.

Here are a few of my (Lyndsay, the inventor) Tapeball inspirations with a glimpse into the feels along the way.

Chasing Shadows

Sometimes self-expression comes with a “get me out of here” vibe

or at least that’s how I felt when I was literally chasing moving shadows from a Dragon Tree while people were walking by, curious about what I was doing, while I hoped to be invisible.

Tears. Fears. Judgments of self.

Hurry up and get it done — People. Peacocks. A Monk. are all watching. What do they think about my art? Cool? Stupid? A waste of a gaze?

My eyes were surprised by what the ink was telling me.

Where are the circles coming from? These leaves are spiky. Is that a big eye walking in the shadows? They’re dripping and uncontrollable…

The shadows keep moving - I can’t keep up. I gotta get out of here - people are watching! How long is it going to take this ink to dry?!? I gotta move… ugh, I just got dirt in the wet ink and spilled a little red and blue on the cobblestone.

In/around Tapada das Necessidades in Lisboa, Portugal.

The red leaves/eyes/tears capture my feelings quite perfectly. Anxiety is written all over this piece and I wonder why I care so much.

I’m grateful I tried. I have a feeling it’s going to get easier. Less stressful and more fun… I’ll keep you posted.

Going with the Flow

(Subconsciously) inspired by a walk through Rossio Square in Lisbon Portugal, ‘Going with the Flow’ is a work-in-progress game board that took a while to commit to that first slice, creating a bit of a shockwave when I saw how many options it opened; options I hadn’t envisioned that were pretty exciting to suddenly have. I made six more cuts around the clear plates below — now I have to make some choices as I reconfigure the pieces… if you have a favourite, connect!

PS: Familiar with ‘Daruma Dolls’? This piece has a special connection to one of my eyes.

Still don’t understand how to play? We’ve got you.
